The collaboration features Safe Sitter’s “Managing Behavior: A Parent’s Guide” infographic, which provides practical strategies for addressing challenging behaviors in children. The guide includes techniques such as offering comfort through favorite items or soothing words, using distraction with toys or stories, giving acceptable choices to maintain cooperation, turning tasks into games, and implementing “when…then” sequences to encourage desired actions.

Safe Sitter, a national nonprofit organization founded in 1980, delivers instructor-led safety training for students in grades 6-8 through programs like Safe Sitter Essentials, which prepares youth for babysitting, staying home alone, and caring for younger siblings. The curriculum includes injury prevention, choking rescue, and response to emergencies such as power failures or severe weather.

Through its YMCA of Orange County program, Safe Sitter offers in-person classes including Safe Sitter Essentials for ages 11 and up, priced at $95 for a 5.5-hour session, and Safe@Home for grades 4-6, a 90-minute course costing $50 that introduces children to safety habits and emergency procedures.
