SAG Awards 2027 to Stream Live on Netflix

SAG-AFTRA has announced the dates for its next two awards ceremonies, both of which will stream live on Netflix. The 33rd annual ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, February 28, 2027, at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT. The 34th annual ceremony will take place on Sunday, February 20, 2028.

The upcoming broadcasts will mark the fourth and fifth years of the partnership between the acting guild and the streaming platform.

Rebranding to The Actor Awards

The ceremonies are now known as The Actor Awards, having previously been titled the SAG Awards. This name change was officially announced on November 14, 2025.

According to the organization’s official website, the decision to rename the event was intended to better reflect its true spirit and position as the only industry honor given to actors, by actors.

Review of the 32nd Annual Ceremony

The 32nd Actor Awards took place on March 1, 2026, at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California. The event was hosted by actress Kristen Bell, who hosted the ceremony for the third time, having previously served as host in 2018 and 2025.

During the March 1, 2026, event, Harrison Ford received the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award. Ford had been announced as the recipient of the honor on December 18, 2025. Yerin Ha, known for the series Bridgerton, served as the ceremony’s ambassador.

The nominations for the 32nd ceremony were announced on January 7, 2026, by Connor Storrie and Janelle James. In the film categories, the movie One Battle After Another received the most nominations with seven, while the film Sinners earned the most awards with two. In the television categories, The Studio led the field with five nominations and three awards.

Crossover with the Academy Awards

The results of the March 1, 2026, Actor Awards served as a significant indicator for the subsequent Academy Awards. Four acting winners from the ceremony also won Oscars:

• Michael B. Jordan for Sinners
• Jessie Buckley for Hamnet
• Sean Penn for One Battle After Another
• Amy Madigan for Weapons

While the top ensemble prize at The Actor Awards went to Sinners, the Academy Award for Best Picture was awarded to One Battle After Another.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has already scheduled its upcoming ceremonies to follow these dates. The 99th Oscars are set for Sunday, March 14, 2027, and the 100th Oscars are scheduled for Sunday, March 5, 2028.

Voting Body and Categories

The Actor Awards recognize outstanding performances across 15 categories, which include motion pictures as well as drama and comedy series.

The nominees and winners are selected by the eligible performers within the SAG-AFTRA community. This voting body consists of more than 160,000 members, making it the largest voting body in the awards landscape.
