Sahara Media Officials Under the Microscope: Anti-Corruption Commission Goes Digital to Uncover Hidden Assets
Boosting Transparency: Mauritania’s Anti-Corruption Efforts
Mauritania’s Supreme National Anti-Corruption Authority has taken a significant step towards enhancing transparency by introducing digitization to manage and follow up on assets declared by government officials.
This decision was made during a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Mokhtar Ould Ajay, with the ministerial committee responsible for implementing the national anti-corruption strategy. The meeting, held on Thursday, also witnessed the restructuring of the committee.
According to the Minister of Economy and Finance, Sid Ahmed Ould Abouh, the committee has decided to “accelerate the necessary measures to study the draft anti-corruption law.” This move aims to strengthen the country’s anti-corruption framework and promote good governance.
The meeting also addressed the periodicity of the committee’s meetings, aligning with the decree that regulates its work. This ensures that the committee remains proactive in its efforts to combat corruption.
In a related development, the Inspector General of the State, Sayed Mohamed Ould Bida, emphasized the committee’s request to amend the decree relating to the Inspector General of the State. This amendment will enable the preparation and publication of an annual report on the Inspector General’s activity, thereby enhancing transparency and accountability.
