Japan-UK Friendship Training Conducted in UK Waters
On Thursday, September 5, 2024, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and the Royal Navy conducted a joint training exercise in the waters from the mouth of the Thames River in the UK to London, promoting friendship and mutual understanding.
The training aimed to strengthen cooperation between the two navies towards realizing a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific.” This initiative is part of a broader effort to foster greater collaboration and understanding between Japan and the UK.
The training involved the participation of the training vessel “Kashima (TV-3508)” from the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and the patrol vessel “Ranger (P293)” from the Royal Navy. The exercises included communication training and PHOTOEX. A notable highlight of the training was when the training vessel “Kashima” passed under the iconic Tower Bridge in London.
This joint training exercise demonstrates the commitment of both nations to strengthening their maritime partnership and promoting regional stability.
