Saint-Brieuc Prepares for Girondins de Bordeaux Ultras
Security Measures Tightened for Briochin Stadium Match Following fan Clashes
SAINT-BRIEUC,France (april 15,2025) — Increased security is in place for Saturday’s match at Fred-Aubert stadium between Stade Briochin and Girondins de Bordeaux, following earlier incidents of fan violence. While tensions have eased since initial clashes, the expected arrival of 450 Bordeaux “ultra” fans has prompted adjustments to security protocols.
“Non-Aggression Pact” in place
According to authorities, the two main ultra groups, the Ultramarines and the North Gate, have reportedly agreed to a “non-aggression pact” as the beginning of the year. This agreement was a condition for lifting a previous travel ban imposed on the groups.
Officials note that no incidents have occurred as the pact was established. The National Division to Combat Hooliganism (DNLH) has classified the match at level 1,the lowest risk level on a scale of 1 to 5,indicating a reduced threat of confrontation compared to a match in December.
“The device put in place will be suitable, as for any National 2 match,” a prefecture spokesperson stated, emphasizing that while precautions are being taken, the overall risk assessment is low.
Designated Parking Areas
A security meeting involving the club, city officials, and the prefecture addressed logistical concerns, including parking arrangements for the visiting fans.
guillaume Allanou, coach and president of Stade Briochin, confirmed that “There will be two spaces within the parking,” designated for the separate groups.
To further manage the visiting supporters, the club has opted against opening an online ticket office. “Nor did you open online ticket office to prevent ultras from Bordeaux to be scattered throughout the stadium,” Allanou explained.
Anticipation is high for the match, which is considered crucial in the race for promotion to the third division. Allanou anticipates a large crowd. “There should be 4,500 spectators, even a little more, like against Nice or Annecy,” he said.
