Saka Tops European Leagues in Assists: A Deep Dive into His Playmaking Mastery
Bukayo Saka had an impressive match for Arsenal against West Ham United, contributing to a 5-2 victory. The 23-year-old winger achieved notable statistics, including two assists and one goal during the game.
Saka’s assists brought his season total to 10, making him the first player in Europe’s top five leagues to reach double digits in assists this season. His teammate, Nuno Tavares, is closest to him with eight assists while playing on loan at Lazio.
This season, Saka reached 10 assists in just 12 Premier League games. Only three players have done it in fewer appearances: Mesut Ozil and Harry Kane, each with 11 games, and Cesc Fabregas with 12. Saka’s performance ranks him among the fastest players to achieve this milestone in Premier League history.
| Player | Season | Apps |
|—————-|———-|——|
| Mesut Ozil | 2015/16 | 11 |
| Harry Kane | 2020/21 | 11 |
| Cesc Fabregas | 2014/15 | 12 |
| Bukayo Saka | 2024/25 | 12 |
| Cesc Fabregas | 2009/10 | 13 |
Saka also moved closer to breaking the record for most assists in a Premier League season, which stands at 20 held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
In addition to his assists, Saka made history by being the first Arsenal player to score and assist in three consecutive matches since Fabregas in 2007. In the previous games, Saka scored one goal and assisted another against Nottingham Forest, then scored and set up two in a UEFA Champions League win over Sporting.
This season, Saka has been involved in 15 goals in the Premier League, with five goals and 10 assists. He trails Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, who has 16 goal involvements, but missed an opportunity to equalize when he set up Martin Odegaard for a penalty.
Manager Mikel Arteta praised Saka for his consistent performance and ability to impact the scoreline. Saka expressed his determination to stay focused and keep improving.
Looking ahead, Saka is ready for the next challenge against Manchester United. He feels good about the team’s recent form and their confidence heading into the match.
