Sakura Kobuki’s Jaw-Dropping Comeback: From 1 Meter to Victory in Two Thrilling Laps
Sumitomo Life Vitality Ladies Tokai Classic: Sakura Kobuki Finishes Fourth
Sakura Kobuki, who started in 25th place, finished with a 65 with seven birdies and no bogeys, finishing in fourth place with a total of 10 under at the Sumitomo Life Vitality Ladies Tokai Classic Final Day.
Kobuki took the lead on No. 2 in the first half, birdying the next third hole (par 5) and increasing her score by four points in the first half. She also birdied three straight on the 12th hole (par 5), and on the 15th hole (par 5), she birdied a 16-foot putt that went over the pin and went 3 feet.
Her return par putt left her with a bad impression, but the ball circled the rim of the cup twice and sank in. Kobuki used unreleased Srixon clubs (No. 3-wood, No. 3-wood, No. 4 utility) that she will sign starting this week, achieving a 77 percent par-on rate (42/54) throughout the tournament. Her putts were also good, and she made 28 on the final day, saying, “Everything went in.”
This is her 13th top 10 finish, and she is ranked 3rd in the Mercedes rankings. Her next match will be the Miyagi TV Cup Dunlop Women’s Open (Miyagi/GC Refuge). Kobuki is looking forward to the tournament, motivated by the beef tongue she eats every year, and is aiming for her third win of the season and her first since the “Earth Mondamin Cup” in June.
GC Refuge will host the Miyagi TV Cup Dunlop Women’s Open, where Kobuki will compete in her next match.
