The Sale Sharks‌ have​ tapped ⁢Marco Bortolami to be their new ⁣head coach, the team ‍announced. Bortolami will work‌ alongside Alex Sanderson, the director of‍ rugby, to bolster the Premiership squad.

Bortolami, 45, ⁣steps into‌ the role ⁤previously ⁢held by Paul Deacon, who left the club Wednesday after serving since⁢ 2020.⁤ The former Italy forward brings a wealth⁣ of experience to the Sharks.

For the past four years,Bortolami has been⁤ the head coach of Benetton,a United Rugby Championship (URC) club. Although his contract with Benetton was set to run through June 2026, the club announced in February that⁣ it would​ be ​terminated early, allowing​ him to depart at ‌the end of the‌ season.
