The Salem Police Department responded to a bomb threat on Friday, May 1, 2026, at a Walmart location in Salem, Ohio. The incident led to the full evacuation of the store while law enforcement conducted a thorough search of the premises.

According to police, the store was evacuated before officials began an investigation and searched the building. To ensure the safety of the site, Salem police received assistance from several other agencies, including the Youngstown Police Department, Youngstown State University Police, Akron Children’s Hospital Police, and K-9 units from the Canfield Police.

The coordinated search of the store found no suspicious items or threats. Following the all-clear from law enforcement, the Walmart has since reopened to the public.
