Salesforce is undergoing a leadership reshuffle, appointing six new leaders while five high-profile executives have departed since December, according to a person familiar with the changes.
Iain Mulholland has been named the company’s new chief security officer, joining from Google, where he most recently served as the deputy chief information security officer for Google Cloud and Technical Infrastructure. He replaces Brad Arkin, who left Salesforce at the end of January after a little over two years in the role.
Patrick Stokes, a longtime Salesforce executive, is the company’s new chief marketing officer, taking over from Ariel Kelman, who departed Monday for chipmaker AMD.
Dave Ward is the new chief architect at Salesforce, having previously served as chief technology officer at Lumen Technologies.
Joe Inzerillo, currently Salesforce’s chief digital officer, will now also serve as president of enterprise and AI technology, overseeing both Slack and Agentforce. Agentforce has become a key component of Salesforce’s AI services, with CEO Marc Benioff even suggesting a potential rebranding of the company to reflect its importance.
Rob Seaman has been promoted to executive vice president and general manager for Slack, and Madhav Thattai has been promoted to executive vice president and general manager for Agentforce.
“Salesforce has always been a talent engine,” a Salesforce spokesperson said in a statement. “Our deep bench and proactive succession planning ensure that our strategy is institutionalized, not individualized. We’re confident in the leaders stepping into these roles and are excited for what’s ahead in FY27.”
Salesforce’s new fiscal year began on February 1. Some of these changes have not yet been widely announced internally.
In addition to Arkin and Kelman, other recent departures include Adam Evans, the previous head of Agentforce, who announced his departure on Sunday. Evans stated on LinkedIn that he intends to focus on building startups.
Ryan Aytay, CEO of Tableau, announced his departure last week, and Denise Dresser, former CEO of Slack, left in December to become OpenAI’s chief revenue officer.
Salesforce stock has faced challenges alongside other software companies amid investor concerns about competition from AI companies.
