Salesforce and Anthropic announced a sweeping enterprise technology expansion called Claudeforce, embedding the world’s largest customer relationship management platform directly inside Anthropic’s Claude AI interface. According to reporting by VentureBeat, the integration ships with 37 pre-built sales skills for tasks like meeting preparation and pipeline analysis, allowing sales representatives to query, update, and act on live CRM data without opening Salesforce user interfaces.
The Architecture of Salesforce in Claude
The partnership builds on Salesforce’s Headless 360 release from March, which originally introduced APIs and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers to let AI agents access CRM data without human screens. According to Salesforce President of Applications and Marketing Patrick Stokes, customers gravitated toward Claude for agentic workflows, but manual MCP server configuration created high technical friction for standard knowledge workers.
To eliminate that friction, the two companies developed a centralized Claude CoWork plugin. Administrators connect the system once, and user permissions inherit automatically from enterprise security settings. If you don’t own that record, if you don’t have permission to see that record, the MCP server doesn’t either, and so you won’t be able to read or write it,
Stokes stated in an exclusive interview with VentureBeat.
Strategic Shift in Enterprise Software Economics
The collaboration signals a fundamental shift away from traditional per-seat enterprise software licenses toward API consumption pricing. According to Stokes, users gain incremental access to API calls through existing Salesforce edition licenses, while contracting separately with Anthropic for underlying Claude inference tokens. The integration also deepens an already extensive commercial relationship. According to Bloomberg reporting, Salesforce’s investment in Anthropic was valued at roughly $5 billion in June. Furthermore, Claude now serves as the default model across Slack, powering features like Slackbot, which Salesforce states saves its own workforce 3.8 million productivity hours annually.

Pilot Availability and Rollout Timeline
The Salesforce in Claude plugin launched for select pilot customers. An open beta is scheduled for September, with additional skills for other business functions slated to roll out in the third quarter.
