Stone joins a list of players who have recently departed, including Marc Sneyd (Warrington), Brad Singleton (Castleford Tigers), Tim Lafai (retired), Kallum Watkins (Leeds Rhinos), Deon Cross (St Helens), Chris Atkin (Castleford), and Nene MacDonald (unpaid leave).
In a move to strengthen their squad, Salford welcomes Russell and Whitehead. Russell, a 29-year-old second-row forward from Papua New Guinea, will stay with Salford through the end of the season after playing 10 league games for warrington, who he joined from St George Illawarra Dragons.
