Sam Utu,a highly-regarded four-star offensive tackle from Orange Lutheran High School in California,has announced his
commitment to the University of Alabama. The 6-foot-5, 295-pound lineman is ranked No. 77 in the ESPN 300 for the
2026 recruiting class.
Utu’s decision to join the Crimson Tide came after considering offers from several top programs, including SMU,
Tennessee, Texas, and Washington. His commitment marks a important addition to Alabama’s 2026 recruiting class,
joining three other top 100 prospects.
This recruiting win follows Utu’s official visit to Alabama. he is the first addition to the 2026 ESPN 300 since
cornerback Jorden Edmonds committed in late March. Utu is now the third-highest ranked player in Alabama’s incoming
class, joining offensive guard Chris Booker.
Known for his versatility and athleticism, Utu has been a four-year starter at Orange Lutheran. His agility on the
offensive line is attributed to his participation in Orange Lutheran’s volleyball program since his freshman year.
