Samajwadi Party MP Faces Charges in Sambhal Violence Case
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has filed a 1,200-page chargesheet in Chandausi’s MP/MLA court regarding the violence that occurred in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, on Nov. 24, 2024. The chargesheet names Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Ziaurrahman Burke, Jama Masjid’s Sadar Zafar Ali, and 21 others as accused.
The violence resulted in four fatalities and injuries to 29 police officers. Authorities allege that Shariq Satha, a gangster operating from Dubai, played a notable role in instigating the unrest.Police claim Satha, with the backing of Burke, incited people to protest a survey of Jama Masjid and plotted the assassination of vishnu Shankar Jain, a lawyer representing the Hindu side.
An earlier 3,000-page chargesheet named 79 accused. SP KK Bishnoi stated that an individual named Mo is associated with the Shariq Satha Gang. Ghulam, allegedly involved in a 2014 shooting, was also allegedly contracted to murder jain. Police arrested Ghulam and recovered multiple firearms.
Investigators linked the satha Gang to Dawood Ibrahim’s D Company. Ghulam reportedly confessed to a phone conversation with Satha on nov. 23, where thay discussed the Jama Masjid survey. Burke is accused of delivering inflammatory speeches and inciting the violence.
