Samsung is swiftly addressing previous delays with the rollout of its One UI 8 beta, built on Android 16. The company has announced the early access program, emphasizing software intelligence and aiming to deliver the latest Android experience to its users sooner than expected.
A key highlight of the One UI 8 update is the “Hide Secure Folder” feature, described as a “kill switch” for digital privacy. This function allows users to instantly hide the Secure Folder icon and its associated apps, encrypting the stored data and halting notifications until the folder is unhidden and decrypted.
This feature offers an additional layer of security, notably useful when others might use the device. It prevents unwanted access to personal data and avoids potentially awkward notifications.
The One UI 8 update also requires users to re-enroll thier biometric security specifically for the Secure Folder, creating a separate, more secure enclave. This ensures that even if someone has generic access to the phone, they cannot access the personal Secure Folder.
According to Android Police, the new upgrade makes the Secure Folder easier to use and safer than ever. The swift settings button hides the Secure Folder and shuts down the apps moved there, silencing their notifications.
