Samsung Galaxy S26: leaks Suggest iPhone 17-Inspired Design, But With a Samsung Twist

By Lisa Park, Chief editor

The tech world is buzzing with anticipation for Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series, expected to launch in february of next year. Leaks are already surfacing, and the latest whispers suggest a design shift that might raise some eyebrows: a potential resemblance to the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro.

Renowned leaker Sonny Dickson recently shared a photo on X, showcasing dummy units of what are purported to be the Samsung Galaxy S26, S26 Edge, and S26 Ultra. Dickson’s post boldly claims that Samsung is embracing a design “very similar to the iPhone 17” for the S26 series.

The image reveals three tan-colored dummy models. The middle model, speculated to be the Samsung Galaxy S26 edge, appears to bear the closest resemblance to the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, both of which are expected to launch around September 9th.

One of the most noticeable differences lies in the rear camera design. The S26 Edge seems to sport a larger camera module that stretches from edge to edge. However, unlike the iPhone 17, the Samsung sensor remains positioned close to each lens. Analysts speculate that this larger camera unit could allow Samsung to incorporate additional internal components, potentially including a larger battery, all within a remarkably thin phone body.

while the S26 Edge might be borrowing some design cues, Samsung is also rumored to be shaking things up within its own lineup. There’s talk that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus model might be replaced by the S26 Edge, mirroring Apple’s rumored decision to discontinue the “Plus” model in favor of an “Air” version for the iPhone 17.

As for the Samsung galaxy S26 Ultra and the standard S26, the leaks suggest more subtle design tweaks. These models might feature an “island” around the camera lens, but the changes appear less dramatic.

Based on the leaked data, the new Samsung series will likely retain a vertically arranged camera setup in the upper left corner, a flat screen with a camera hole at the top, and a thin, uniform bezel. The power button and volume controls are expected to be positioned similarly to the Galaxy S25 Edge. The phone is also rumored to have a flat mobile frame with curved angles, and a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Adding to the intrigue, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge is also rumored to support Qi2 Wireless Charging, potentially incorporating magnets under the glass for enhanced connectivity.

While these leaks offer a tantalizing glimpse into the future of the Galaxy S26 series, it’s important to remember that these are still just rumors. As we get closer to the expected February launch, more concrete details will undoubtedly emerge. One thing is clear: Samsung is aiming to make a splash with its next flagship lineup, and the potential design shift towards an iPhone-inspired
