The move allows the manufacturer to increase overall energy density while keeping physical dimensions remarkably slim, addressing a central engineering challenge for modern folding mobile devices.

According to Digital Trends, silicon-carbon cells remain a subset of conventional lithium-ion batteries. The fundamental upgrade occurs inside the anode, which is the electrode responsible for storing and releasing lithium ions throughout charging and discharging cycles. However, silicon can hold considerably more lithium by weight than graphite, offering device manufacturers a direct path toward higher energy density.
