Samsung Electronics began the official rollout of One UI 9, its new user interface layer built on Android 17, but the software update does not grant every Galaxy device equal access to its headline features. The company launched the deployment on September 16, 2026, starting with the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra models, following the initial debut of One UI 9 on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8, and Z Flip8 foldables.
Device Compatibility and Galaxy AI Disparities
While the system update reaches a broad range of hardware, several of the most prominent additions tied to Galaxy AI depend strictly on the specific model, operating language, and geographic region. Devices that support the full suite of four analyzed AI features include the Galaxy S26 series, the Galaxy S25 series, the Galaxy S24 series, along with the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8, Z Fold7, Z Fold6, Z Flip8, Z Flip7, and Z Flip6. Meanwhile, fan edition models such as the Galaxy S26 FE, S25 FE, and S24 FE receive My FanCam, Now Nudge, and customized Now Brief cards, but lack Call Brief support. Older hardware including the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold5, and Galaxy Z Flip5 receive the One UI 9 operating system update without those specific AI capabilities. Samsung notes that hardware limitations and cloud service dependencies account for these tiered rollouts.
New Tools Introduced in One UI 9
One UI 9 delivers interface modifications, artificial intelligence integrations, and utility tools designed for daily operations. My FanCam enables users to select a single person within a wide-angle video so that the system automatically crops and keeps that individual centered in a focused clip. Now Nudge provides contextual suggestions based on active screen content, assisting users with looking up information from a conversation or saving a location without manually switching between applications. Additional updates include expanded customization options for Now Brief and generative suggestions from Creative Studio for upcoming events. Samsung also refined Photo Assist, translation services, scanning utilities, and recording functions alongside general device support tools.
Checking and Installing the Update
Because the distribution occurs gradually across different markets and carriers, users can check for the software release directly from their devices. Samsung directs owners to open Ajustes, select Actualización de software, and tap Descargar e instalar. The system verifies if One UI 9 has been enabled for that specific model, region, and carrier. Samsung Members also provides release details, and users should ensure adequate battery life and storage space before beginning the installation process.
