Samsung Tizen 8 Update: Seamless Galaxy Watch Integration on Smart TVs
Samsung is improving user experience across devices with the Tizen 8 update for smart TVs and monitors. This update introduces One UI features to larger screens. It also connects the TV and Galaxy Watch more effectively, especially for Samsung Health users.
With One UI on your TV, you can start workouts on your Galaxy Watch using your TV remote. However, this feature is not fully seamless. Users navigate to the “Daily+” tab, select the “Health” tab, and then pick their Watch. You will see a workout selection pop-up on the Galaxy Watch after pressing the workout button on the TV.
While this allows users to prompt the workout menu from the TV, they still need to make the final selection on their watch. The integration between Galaxy Watches and Samsung TVs is improving, but it has not reached full functionality yet. Users hope future updates will allow for direct workout selection on the watch from the TV.
How does the Tizen 8 update enhance connectivity between Samsung smart devices?
Interview with Samsung Smart Devices Specialist on Tizen 8 Update
Interviewer: Thank you for joining us today to discuss the recent Tizen 8 update that Samsung has rolled out for smart TVs and monitors. This update introduces One UI features and improvements in connectivity, particularly for users of Samsung Health. Can you explain what the key enhancements are with Tizen 8?
Specialist: Thank you for having me. The Tizen 8 update is a significant step forward for our users as it brings One UI features to larger screens. One of the most prominent enhancements is the seamless integration between Samsung TVs and Galaxy Watches, particularly for fitness enthusiasts using Samsung Health. This update allows users to initiate their workout sessions right from their TV remote, which adds a layer of convenience.
Interviewer: That sounds promising! However, we’ve heard from users that this integration isn’t completely seamless yet. Can you elaborate on that?
Specialist: Yes, you’re correct. While users can prompt workout selection from their TV, the process still requires a few steps. After navigating to the “Daily+” tab, selecting the “Health” tab, and choosing their Galaxy Watch, users will see a workout selection pop-up on their watch after they press the workout button on the TV. This means they still need to finalize their workout selection directly on the watch, which isn’t as smooth as we’d like it to be.
Interviewer: What is Samsung doing to improve this functionality in future updates?
Specialist: We are actively gathering user feedback on this feature and are aware of the desire for a more streamlined experience. We are committed to improving this integration in future updates. Our upcoming Tizen 9 update, expected next year, may introduce even more exciting cross-device features that could potentially address this concern directly, allowing for more seamless interaction between the TV and Galaxy Watch.
Interviewer: That’s very encouraging to hear! As a final thought, what do you hope users will take away from the Tizen 8 update in terms of their overall user experience?
Specialist: We hope that users will appreciate the enhanced connectivity and features that Tizen 8 brings. Our goal is to provide a more cohesive experience across devices, especially for those who are engaged in fitness routines and prefer using their smart TV as part of that experience. We look forward to continuing to innovate based on user feedback and making our devices work better together.
Interviewer: Thank you for your insights on this update. We look forward to seeing how Samsung continues to evolve with Tizen.
Specialist: Thank you for having me! We appreciate the support and enthusiasm from our users.
