Samsung’s Base Galaxy S25 With 12GB RAM Gets Spotted In New Benchmark Leak With Overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite; Achieves A Lower Score Than The Galaxy S25 Ultra

Samsung’s Base Galaxy S25 With 12GB RAM Gets Spotted In New Benchmark Leak With Overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite; Achieves A Lower Score Than The Galaxy S25 Ultra

January 1, 2025 Catherine Williams Business

The benchmarking leaks surrounding the Galaxy S25 lineup are slowly unraveling, and on this occasion, we get a first look at not just the scores of the base model but also its internals. Unsurprisingly, Samsung’s most affordable flagship member for 2025 will be treated to Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Elite, with the fresh results showing its single-core and multi-core scores being lower than what the Galaxy S25 Ultra obtained not too long ago.

Overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite powering the base Galaxy S25 is insufficient in delivering the same results as the Galaxy S25 Ultra

Yesterday, we reported that the Galaxy S25 Ultra was spotted on Geekbench 6 sporting an upgraded version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite where its performance cores were running at 4.47GHz instead of the default 4.32GHz. The same configuration is running on the base Galaxy S25, which features the model number SM-S931B, indicating that no version from the Korean giant’s lineup will arrive with an Exynos 2500. A pleasant surprise awaited us when we scrolled down and took a gander at the specifications because this particular model was tested with 12GB RAM.

It appears that Samsung has finally become serious about the internals of its higher-end models, which also gives weight to the rumor that the company would introduce a 12GB RAM upgrade to all Galaxy S25 models as standard. Coming to the scores, the base model achieves a lower single-core and multi-core result than the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which is puzzling to see despite the latest leak revealing that the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s performance cores are operating at higher clock speeds.

Our first assumption was that since the Galaxy S25 is smaller than the Galaxy S25 Ultra, its cooling solution would not be too elaborate. However, readers should keep in mind that Geekbench 6 is not designed to measure sustained workloads, and because of this particular nature, the scores between the two flagships should be around the same. Hopefully, we should witness improved results before Samsung gears up to officially launch the Galaxy S25 family later this month.
