Samuel Eto’o wants to force a bus journey of almost 1000 km on the Indomitable Lions: Yaoundé to Garoua
The conflict between the Cameroon Football Federation (Fécafoot) and the Ministry of Sports has reached a new peak.
Determined to have the Indomitable Lions play in Garoua despite the government’s opposition, Samuel Eto’o would like to force a journey of almost 1000 kilometers on Vincent Aboubakar and his teammates.
A decision that does not appear to some observers to be the result of sporting logic, but rather a reflection of an oversized ego, a trait often attributed to Samuel Eto’o.
In a letter addressed to the Secretary of State to the Minister of Defence, responsible for the National Gendarmerie Yves Landry Etoga, the Acting General Secretary of Fécafoot, Blaise Djounang, announces the logistical arrangements for the transport of the Lions, which will departs from Yaoundé on August 31 at 3:00 am, with a view to their match against Namibia scheduled for September 7, 2024 at the Roumde Adjia Stadium.
The SG of Samuel Eto’o calls for the implementation of exceptional measures to ensure the safety of the bus.
The Cameroon football community is seriously wondering if this display of power by Samuel Eto’o will really serve the interests of the team and the country considering the next sporting events.

Mr Secretary of State,
I send you my most sincere and warm thanks for all the arrangements you have always taken and continue to take to ensure security around our National Football Teams.
Therefore, as part of the first day of the qualifiers for the TOTALENERGIES Africa Cup of Nations “Morocco 2025” the Invincible Lions of Cameroon will play against the National Selection of Namibia on September 7, 2024 at 5:00 pm at the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua.
The official bus to transport our beloved National Team for its trips (training and match) to Garoua between September 3 and 8, 2024 will leave Yaoundé on August 31, 2024 at 3:00 am to arrive in the city of Garoua.
After the above meeting, the said bus will start its journey back to Yaoundé from September 8, 2024.
Given the sensitivity and delicacy of these journeys,
I request your benevolent authority to intervene so that the necessary security arrangements are made for the regional relay escort of the said bus to its final destination (Garoua).
Counting on your usual diligence,
Accept, Mr. Secretary of State, the expression of my deepest respect.
TO THE PRESIDENT AND BY ORDER
THE GENERAL SECRETARY
DJOUNANG Blaise
