San Antonio Shooting Leaves Teen Dead Near School
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A young man died wednesday afternoon after being shot a block and a half from a school following an altercation,according to authorities.
The incident occured around 2 p.m. at the intersection of S. Elmendorf and Mérida streets on the city’s west side.
San Antonio Police Department preliminary reports indicate that a confrontation occurred between eight students, ranging in age from 14 to 17.
According to police, seven of the students allegedly forced the victim to the ground before shooting him, resulting in his death.
Authorities have reported that no suspects are currently in custody. Those involved are believed to be students at Brewer Academy, part of the San Antonio Self-reliant School District (SAISD).
An SAISD spokeswoman stated, “We promptly implemented our security protocol to ensure all other students returned to the building and were safe.”
