San José Shooting: 2 Killed in Downtown – February 8, 2026

Two Men Killed in San Jose Shooting, City’s Second and Third Homicides of 2026

San Jose police are investigating a shooting that left two men dead early Sunday morning, marking the city’s second and third homicides of 2026. The incident occurred in the 100 block of Paseo de San Antonio in downtown San Jose, according to a media advisory released by the San José Police Department.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 2:20 AM on . Patrol and Special Operations Officers arriving at the scene located the two adult male victims suffering from at least one gunshot wound each. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, both men were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The SJPD Homicide Unit is actively investigating the incident, and preliminary information suggests it was an isolated event. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims, stating that the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner will handle that process.

The motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. This shooting follows a separate incident earlier in the week, where a 17-year-old boy was fatally shot in San Jose on , marking the city’s first homicide of 2026. That shooting occurred in the 1500 block of Winchester Boulevard, near downtown Campbell, at approximately 4:48 p.m., according to police reports.

Police had arrested two suspects in connection with the teen’s death as of Friday, , according to reports. The identity of the 17-year-old has not yet been released by authorities.

The recent surge in violence has prompted increased police presence in the area. The San Jose Police Department urges anyone with information about either incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigations.
