The San Jose State men’s golf team concluded the Amer Ari Invitational on February 7, 2026, finishing in 13th place. The tournament, hosted by Hawaii-Hilo at the Mauna Lani Resort on the Kohala Coast in Hawaii, featured a field of 20 teams, including 12 ranked programs.
The Spartans posted a tournament total of 839 (-25), a result that placed them ahead of No. 26 UCLA. The event ran from February 5 to February 7, 2026, and included several NCAA Division I programs such as Stanford University, the University of Texas, and Oklahoma State University.
Individual Performances
Ivan Barahona led the San Jose State team, finishing in a tie for 33rd place with a three-day total of 206 (-10). Barahona maintained consistency throughout the event, shooting under par in all three rounds. His final-round performance on February 7 included a 70 (-2) and four birdies.

Keshav “KC” Mungali finished just one stroke behind Barahona with a total of 207 (-9), placing him in a tie for 38th. Mungali also recorded under-par scores in every round, including the team’s lowest score of the final day with a 69 (-3) that featured five birdies.
Other contributing members of the Spartan lineup included:
- Christian Maggard: Finished tied for 76th with a total of 214 (-2), highlighted by a 70 (-2) on the final day.
- Avinash Iyer: Also finished tied for 76th with a total of 214 (-2), recording a 71 (-1) on Saturday.
- Jed Dy: Finished the tournament with a total of 220 (+4), following a 74 (+2) in the final round.
Tournament Progression
The Spartans began the competition on February 5, where Barahona and Mungali both recorded opening-round scores of 68 (-4). During the first day, Barahona recorded seven birdies, while Mungali was the only Spartan to complete the round without a bogey. San Jose State ended the opening day in 14th place with a team score of 279 (-9).
Avinash Iyer also performed strongly in the opening round, carding a 69 (-3) and recording the only eagle for the Spartans during the first day of play. Christian Maggard and Jed Dy both shot 74 (+2) on Thursday.
Two additional players competed as individuals. Xuan Luo finished the tournament with an even-par 72 on Saturday after recording a 77 (+5) on the first day. Itai Cohen finished with a 79 after carding an opening-round 79 (+7).
Upcoming Schedule
Following the conclusion of the Amer Ari Invitational, the San Jose State Spartans are scheduled to compete in The Desimone Invitational. That event is set to begin on March 9, 2026, at the Lake Merced Golf Club in Daly City, California.
