Sandra Ng’s Shocking Exit: How TVB’s Meager Pay Hike of 50 Dollars Drove Her Away
Junru Ng Opens Up About Leaving TVB and Her Journey to the Film Industry
Junru Ng’s latest movie, “The Love I Talked About,” starring MC Cheung Tien-fu, is set to be released soon. In a recent interview with Do Sister Cheng Yuling’s YouTube show, ”The Do Show,” Junru Ng shared her experiences and insights about her career transition from TVB to the film industry.
Low Salary and Unpredictable Life at TVB
Junru Ng and Yuling Cheng, both former TVB artists, discussed their experiences working in the television industry. Junru Ng revealed that she had only filmed five dramas on TVB before joining “Happy Tonight” and eventually leaving the network. When asked about her reasons for leaving, Junru Ng cited the low salary as a major factor. She mentioned that her salary increase was only $50, which led her to question her worth and ultimately decide to leave.
Visibility and Outside Jobs
Junru Ng explained that the TV station system is designed to increase the visibility of artists, who then take outside jobs to earn a living. She shared that she was not afraid to leave TVB because she had already gained visibility and had a movie project lined up. Junru Ng also mentioned that the TV station’s system can be unpredictable, with artists having to wait for the director’s selection, which can be challenging.
A Close Friendship and Shared Experiences
Despite working together in only a few movies, Junru Ng and Yuling Cheng have developed a close friendship. Junru Ng shared a memorable experience of sleeping in a car with Yuling Cheng during the filming of ”Seven Princesses of Martial Arts.” She also recalled trying a fruit acid peeling treatment with Yuling Cheng, which resulted in red and swollen skin, earning them a scolding from the director for lacking “actor morality.”
