Sandra Ng’s Shocking TVB Exit: The $50 Pay Raise That Wasn’t Enough
Sandra Ng Opens Up About Her Career Transition from TV to Film
The highly anticipated movie ”The Love I Love” starring Sandra Ng and MC Zhang Tiantian is set to hit theaters soon. In a recent appearance on the YouTube program “The Do Show” hosted by Sister Do, Sandra Ng shared her experiences and insights about her career transition from TV to film.
Although Sandra Ng and Sister Do have been friends for many years, they had never collaborated on a TV drama. However, they have worked together on two movies in the film industry. Sandra Ng reflected on her time in TVB, where she had filmed only five TV dramas, including “The Deer and the Cauldron” and “The Fighting Clan.” She also shared her experience working on the fun drama “Happy Tonight.”
After leaving TVB and entering the film industry, Sandra Ng achieved great success, winning the Golden Horse Award for Best Actress and the Academy Award for Best Actress. When asked by Sister Do why she left TVB to join the film industry, Sandra Ng candidly replied, “The labor cost is low.” She explained that the salary increase at TVB was minimal, with only a 50 yuan increase per month, which was not enough to motivate her to stay.
Sandra Ng also shared her thoughts on the visibility and benefits of working in the film industry. She stated that while there is visibility in the film industry, she was not afraid to take the leap and pursue new opportunities. She emphasized that the system in place at TVB was not beneficial to her, as she was not able to retain the benefits of her work, such as shooting commercials and movies.
