Cologne, Italy – Sanlorenzo, the iconic italian shipbuilding powerhouse, is charting a course for continued innovation and growth with the declaration of a new state-of-the-art production facility in Cologne, Franciacorta. this strategic move underscores the company’s commitment to excellence and its dedication to meeting the evolving demands of the luxury yacht market.
the announcement, spearheaded by CEO Massimo Perotti, marks a significant milestone in Sanlorenzo’s remarkable journey. Since acquiring the company in 2005, Perotti has steered Sanlorenzo towards becoming a global leader in the yachting industry. This new facility represents a bold step forward, solidifying the company’s position at the forefront of innovation, design, and service.
The new 11,000 square meter plant will be dedicated to the construction of Bluegame models and Swan motor yachts, further expanding sanlorenzo’s diverse portfolio. The location in Cologne, a region renowned for its rich shipbuilding heritage and home to historical companies like Riva, was a natural choice.
“For boating, where the value lies more in innovation, design, and service than in savings on labor costs, this territory is perfect,” explained Perotti. “Our segment is not played on the price of the individual component, but on the uniqueness and quality of the product.”
The area’s logistical advantages, including proximity to Milan and major transport routes, further enhance its appeal.This strategic location will enable Sanlorenzo to leverage the region’s skilled workforce and tap into a network of suppliers known for their expertise and craftsmanship.
The new plant will be built directly in front of IC Yacht,a Brescia-based company specializing in tenders that Sanlorenzo acquired two years ago. IC Yacht’s reputation for excellence is underscored by its recent award for “Best Tender in the World” for a Lürssen superyacht.
Construction of the new facility is slated to begin by the end of 2025, signaling sanlorenzo’s long-term commitment to growth and innovation.
Sanlorenzo’s remarkable financial performance further validates its strategic vision. In 2024, the company reported new yacht sales of €930.35 million, a 10.7% increase compared to the previous year. The company’s rectified gross operating margin also saw a significant boost, rising from €157.84 million to €176.36 million.Net profit (excluding third-party fees) reached €103.12 million, an 11.1% increase compared to 2023. With a positive net financial position of €29.08 million, Sanlorenzo is well-positioned for continued success.
