Sao Paulo Grand Prix: Norris Regains Championship Lead
championship Leader Downplays Significance of First Place As early Season
A leading competitor dismissed suggestions that a shift in mindset contributed to their recent success, attributing it primarily to hard work and a strong team. The individual, whose name has not been publicly released, stated, “That’s certainly not true. I definitely wouldn’t put it down to that. I would put it more down to just having worked hard and having a very good team around me. I’d put 99% of it down to that, 1% a mix of various different things. But most results coming from work done rather than mentality or things.”
The competitor also indicated they are not actively focusing on their current position at the top of the championship standings, a lead they’ve held as the fourth race of the season. They stated they only acknowledge the lead when it is pointed out by others. “I don’t think in terms of races and achieving the actual dream of being a champion, I still at the minute don’t feel any difference. I think nothing’s completed, nothing’s done,” they said.
Despite holding a meaningful lead, the competitor emphasized that the championship is far from decided. With over 120 points still available, they maintain a focus on winning each upcoming race. “There’s still, what, over 120 points or something available, so it doesn’t mean anything still temporarily. It’s a nice thoght, again, to look on and think about, but or else it’s nice to be there, but to win next weekend and win the final race, that’s still my goal.”
