Saoirse Ronan’s New Film Contests Top London Award
Saoirse Ronan to Star in Darkly Humorous Satire, Bad Apples
Saoirse Ronan will feature in Bad Apples, a new darkly humorous and biting satirical comedy, which has been selected for the Official Competition at the BFI London film Festival in October. The film will have its world premiere next month at the Toronto international Film Festival (TIFF).
A Teacher’s Struggle and a Community’s Complicity
Ronan portrays a primary school teacher dedicated to inspiring her students. Though, her efforts are continually undermined by a disruptive student, and when her requests for support from school leadership go unanswered, she is compelled to take autonomous action.
The film’s synopsis suggests this action leads to a chain of “unfortunate events,” and director Jonatan Etzler’s work is described as a “provocative, often unsettling portrait of a community that willingly looks the other way to serve its own interests.”
