Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, fresh off a record-breaking season, will be the cover athlete for Madden NFL 26.EA Sports made the announcement Monday, also revealing that Barkley has been named to the prestigious Madden ’99 Club’—a first for an Eagles offensive player.
Barkley’s stellar performance last season included a combined 2,504 rushing yards in the regular season and postseason. While he narrowly missed Eric Dickerson’s regular-season rushing record, the Eagles opted to rest starters before the playoffs. This decision paid dividends, as Barkley contributed considerably to philadelphia’s Super Bowl victory with 499 rushing yards and five touchdowns in the playoffs.
One particular play, a reverse hurdle against the Jacksonville Jaguars, became a defining moment. During a third-and-6 situation, Barkley caught a pass from Jalen Hurts, evaded Devin Lloyd with a spin move, and then leaped over Jarrian Jones for a 14-yard gain.
