Former senator Antonio Trillanes IV and a civil society association, The Silent majority, filed plunder and graft complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday, January 21, alleging misuse of confidential funds and irregularities during her time as Secretary of the Department of Education and as mayor of Davao City.
The complainants allege Duterte received funds from individuals connected to the illegal drug trade. They detailed the following accusations:
- Plunder and Malversation: Alleged misuse of P650 million in confidential funds while serving as Vice President and Secretary of Education.
- Plunder and Malversation: Alleged misuse of P2.7 billion in confidential funds during her term as mayor of Davao City.
- Graft and Malversation: allegations of overpriced laptops purchased by the Department of Education, totaling P8 billion.
- Graft and Gross Incompetence: Concerns regarding a P12-billion Commission on Audit (COA) report.
The complaint was submitted to the Office of the Ombudsman for investigation.
