Sarah Cawood: Zoe Ball’s Kind Offer After Career Crisis
Sarah CawoodS Honest Plea and Zoe Ball‘s Heartwarming Response: A Story of Solidarity in the TV world
LONDON – Sarah Cawood, a beloved face of 90s British television, recently shared a raw and vulnerable moment with her followers, sparking a wave of support and a touching offer from fellow presenter Zoe Ball. Cawood, 53, known for her iconic roles on shows like Top of the Pops, Live and Kicking, and Singled Out, opened up about feeling “lost” and “redundant” in her career.
In an emotional Instagram video, cawood confessed to struggling with feelings of jealousy as she watched her peers thrive. “All my former TV buddies, plus new friends I’ve met here and they all seem to be at events with each other, working together and THRIVING,” she wrote.”And here’s the thing: I couldn’t be more pleased or proud of those women but I miss them… and I miss being one of them.”
Cawood further elaborated on the challenges of balancing household responsibilities with the desire to pursue new creative ventures, expressing a concern about not earning enough. “I just feel so redundant,” she admitted. “I want to build my own brand; maybe write a book using my old diaries, but I simply don’t have time: unless my time is spent on income-producing activities, I can’t do them.”
The outpouring of support was immediate, with hundreds of messages flooding her inbox. Among them was a particularly heartwarming response from Radio 2 DJ Zoe Ball. Ball, known for her down-to-earth personality, offered Cawood a simple yet powerful gesture of solidarity: a cup of tea and a listening ear.
“Oh darling S it’s not always as it may look from out there I promise,” Ball wrote. “Don’t be sad – although a good weep is such a good outlet and a must. If you ever want a cuppa.”
Cawood, touched by Ball’s kindness, replied, “Thanks ZoZo! You are honestly one in a bloody million: treading that line between being on the telly and also, just like us! And we all love you for it! May take you up on that offer: just for a Ball Cuddle!”
