Scandinavian Airlines,⁢ or SAS, will reinstate flights between ⁣Copenhagen and Mumbai, India, beginning June⁣ 2, 2026. The airline is expanding its global relevance and travel role with this move.

The year-round route,which still ⁣requires government approval,will feature five weekly flights in both directions. This marks SAS’s first direct service to India in⁣ nearly‍ two decades.

SAS‍ said the new route will benefit both leisure ⁣and business travelers in Denmark and southern Sweden.‍ The airline also anticipates improved connections between India, Scandinavia, Europe, and North America.

“With strong scandinavian business ties in the region and growing travel demand, this route is a⁤ strategically significant addition to SAS’ network – ‍strengthening our global ⁤relevance and expanding our reach,” SAS said.

Anko ⁣van der Werff, SAS president and CEO, emphasized India’s‍ importance ⁣as a global market. ⁢He said the new route strengthens Copenhagen’s position as a global hub, enhancing connectivity between India, Northern Europe,⁢ and⁢ North America. Flights will be aboard an ‍Airbus A330.From Copenhagen, flights depart at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, friday, Saturday, and Sunday, arriving in Mumbai at 1:30 a.m. In the opposite direction, flights‍ leave Mumbai at 6 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and‍ Sunday, ⁤landing ⁣in Copenhagen at‍ 11:45⁣ a.m.
