Saskatchewan residents can now schedule appointments for influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations, as public⁣ health officials emphasize the importance of immunization before the fall and winter respiratory ⁤illness season.The initiative aims⁢ to protect individuals and communities from the potential surge in cases.

Health Minister Jeremy Cockrill underscored the safety ⁣and effectiveness of vaccination. “As we head into ⁣the fall season, getting⁣ immunized is one of the best⁢ ways we⁢ can keep each other safe,” cockrill stated. “By protecting yourself, you⁤ are also protecting your family, friends, and community from respiratory illness.”

Who Should Prioritize Vaccination?

Public health officials particularly encourage those in high-risk groups to book ⁢their vaccinations promptly.this includes seniors, individuals with chronic health conditions, people with weakened immune systems, children⁢ under five years old, and pregnant women. Enhanced ⁣influenza vaccines ⁣are available at no cost to all Saskatchewan ⁢residents aged 65 ⁣and older.

Dr. Julie Kryzanowski, SHA ⁤Senior Medical Health Officer, emphasized the urgency of early immunization.”Getting immunized early this ⁣fall is vital⁤ to protecting not⁣ only yourself,⁣ but your loved ones as well,” she said.

Where and How to Get Vaccinated

Vaccinations are being ⁤offered at a variety of locations throughout Saskatchewan, including ⁣public health clinics, participating local ⁤pharmacies,⁤ and ⁤some physician and ⁢nurse practitioner offices. Children aged six months ⁢to five years are limited to receiving vaccines at SHA public health⁢ clinics, public health⁤ offices, or through ⁣their ⁢primary⁣ healthcare provider.

Residents have the option of ⁤receiving the⁢ influenza and COVID-19 vaccines ⁤in a single appointment ⁢or separately,based on ⁣their preference.
