Saudi Arabia has announced its official 30-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Head coach Geogios Donis confirmed the roster, which relies heavily on domestic talent to compete in the upcoming tournament.
The squad composition reflects a strategic focus on the Roshn Saudi League, with 28 of the 30 selected players currently based in the domestic top flight.
Saudi Arabia has been placed in Group H for the competition. The national team will face Spain, Uruguay and Cape Verde during the group stage.
The placement of the teams was determined during the official draw held in Washington DC.
The selection includes several emerging talents from the Roshn Saudi League who have seen significant development leading up to the tournament. Among the highlighted players is Al Qadsiah playmaker Musab Al Juwayr, who is the reigning Young Player of the Year for the top flight.
Also selected from Al Qadsiah is Jehad Thikri, a defender who has spent more than a full season playing alongside former Real Madrid player Nacho.
The roster further features Saleh Abu Al Shamat, a lead forward for Al Ahli, and Nawaf Boushal, a full-back from Al Nassr.
The inclusion of these players underscores a trend of integrating younger, rapidly developing talent into the national team setup ahead of the 2026 fixtures.
The challenges facing the squad in Group H are significant, as they must compete against Spain, which has held the top position in the FIFA rankings, and Uruguay, led by coach Marcelo Bielsa.
The group also includes Cape Verde, which is making its first participation in the FIFA World Cup.
