“according to combined reports from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia, each stadium hosting World Cup matches created approximately 1,850 jobs,” van Portvliet told Al-Iqtisadiah.While the exact number of jobs created in Saudi Arabia remains to be finalized, the scale of the event suggests a substantial impact on the local economy.
Yasser Al-mashal, President of the saudi Football Federation, confirmed to Al-Iqtisadiah that the official match schedule will be announced during celebrations marking Saudi Arabia’s prosperous bid next year.
The 2034 World Cup will see 48 national teams compete across 15 stadiums in five Saudi cities. FIFA’s decision to award the hosting rights to Saudi Arabia follows a rigorous selection process,with the Saudi bid receiving a record-breaking 419.8 out of 500 points.
