The search for Nancy Guthrie, mother of NBC’s Savannah Guthrie, continues with no arrests made following a weekend of intensive law enforcement activity in Tucson, Arizona. A SWAT team operation Friday night, focused on a residence less than two miles from Guthrie’s home, yielded no immediate breakthroughs, according to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos.

“Just tracking down leads. No arrests. And no signs of Nancy,” Sheriff Nanos told NewsNation’s Brian Entin, offering a succinct update on the ongoing investigation. The operation involved the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI, who executed a search warrant at the property. Three individuals were briefly detained – a man and a woman, reportedly a mother and son, at the raided home, and a second man pulled over during a traffic stop while traveling to the location – but all were subsequently released.

Authorities have been tight-lipped about the specific lead that prompted the SWAT raid, citing the sensitivity of the joint investigation. This latest development follows a similar incident earlier in the week, where a deliveryman, identified as Carlos, was briefly detained as a person of interest before being cleared and released without charges. The pattern suggests investigators are pursuing numerous avenues in their attempt to locate the 84-year-old Guthrie, who has been missing since January 31st.

The case has garnered significant attention, not only due to Savannah Guthrie’s prominent role as a co-anchor on NBC’s Today show, but also due to the increasingly concerning circumstances surrounding her mother’s disappearance. Nancy Guthrie was last seen after being dropped off at her Tucson home by family members. Authorities now believe she was taken against her will by a masked individual, as captured on her doorbell camera.

Adding to the urgency, investigators have confirmed that Nancy Guthrie requires daily medication, and her absence raises serious concerns about her well-being. The FBI has doubled the reward for information leading to her safe return or the arrest and conviction of those responsible, increasing it to $100,000.

The investigation has also revealed the discovery of DNA evidence at Nancy Guthrie’s home that does not belong to her or anyone known to be close to her. This finding has led investigators to treat the case as a potential crime scene, intensifying the search and broadening the scope of the investigation. NBC News reported that the DNA evidence was collected and is currently being analyzed.

Savannah Guthrie has publicly shared her anguish and hope through social media, posting a heartfelt message alongside home movie footage of her mother and family. “Our lovely mom. We will never give up on her. Thank you for your prayers and hope,” she wrote, underscoring the family’s unwavering determination to find her.

The FBI is also focusing on a suspect described as being between 5’9” and 5’10” tall, and seen in video footage carrying a black, 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack. The agency is appealing to the public for any information regarding this individual.

Complicating the investigation, it was revealed that Nancy Guthrie did not have a subscription for her Nest camera, initially hindering access to crucial footage. However, the FBI has since obtained the footage, adding another piece to the puzzle.

While the recent SWAT operation did not result in an arrest, authorities remain committed to pursuing all leads. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI continue to work collaboratively, analyzing evidence and following up on thousands of tips received from the public since Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance nearly two weeks ago. The investigation remains active and ongoing, with law enforcement officials emphasizing their dedication to bringing Nancy Guthrie home safely.
