Savoring the Flavors of Britain: A Sneak Peek at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi’s 2024 Exhibition, Featuring Farrar’s Delectable Tea Pastries
Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi British Exhibition 2024 ④ ~ Lunchtime with Scones from Farrer’s Tea Pastries
Working from home has its perks, and one of them is enjoying a delightful lunch. Today’s menu features Farrer’s Tea Pastries’ cheese scones and leftover gazpacho from the previous day.

- Leftover Gazpacho
As I began eating, my mood shifted, and I transformed the gazpacho into a fake bread gratin.
Farrer’s Tea Pastries Cheese Scones
These savory scones boast visible grains of cheddar cheese, offering a unique British treat. The fragrant herbs are generously used, filling your mouth with their flavor and aroma.
I toasted the scone, spread butter on it, and enjoyed it with a side of gazpacho. If I had sour cream, it would have paired perfectly.

These scones are perfect for adults, especially when paired with a glass of wine on a holiday.
Gazpacho Transformation
The gazpacho’s toppings were a bit sloppy, and the cloudy weather made me crave something warm. I decided to transform it into a bread gratin by adding toasted bread, Gruyere cheese, and an egg, then warming it up in the oven.

The result was a satisfying and warm meal, perfect for a cloudy day.

Farrer’s Tea Pastries Plain Scones
In addition to the cheese scones, I also purchased plain scones from Farrer’s Tea Pastries. Although the photo isn’t the best, the scones were delicious.

The plain scones have a soft and fluffy texture, typical of hotel-style scones. They’re perfect for pairing with milk tea and boast a strong flour and egg flavor.
Tea Pastries is the official Japanese distributor of Farrer’s, a long-established tea house in the Lake District of England. They have a beautiful location in Shiga Prefecture, which I’d love to visit during the rose season.
