Popayán Gastronomic Congress to Proceed as Planned Despite Transport Strike
Despite the transport strike, this event will go ahead as planned.
Due to the doubts that may have arisen, the directors of the Popayán Gastronomic Corporation issued a statement clearly indicating that the Gastronomic Congress, reaching its XXII version in 2024, will happen as planned, starting on September 5.
Many of the guests started arriving in Popayán on September 4, being received at Guillermo León Valencia airport.
The statement says: “Due to the recent public order events in Popayán and on the Pan-American Highway, the Gastronomic Corporation of Popayán announces to the public that it is continuing the event from September 5 to 8.
The gastronomic, tourism, and institutional sectors in general have prepared to participate in this event that brings together thousands of Payanese and tourists from all corners of Colombia and the world.
The letter adds that delegations from Guatemala, Leticia (Amazonas), and different cities in the country have begun to arrive in the capital of Cauca to share the knowledge and flavors offered by the first Creative City of Gastronomy.
The Corporation urges citizens to support and go with the Congress, which is presenting a great program.
