Scandinavian Airlines Flight to Miami Faces Turbulent Return to Denmark
A Scandinavian Airlines flight heading to Miami faced serious challenges and had to return to Denmark. A total of 254 people on board experienced various incidents during the flight. One woman was ejected from her seat due to turbulence, hitting the cabin ceiling.
Video footage captured the chaotic scene, showing personal items flying around the cabin. A passenger recorded the moment and expressed fear for their lives, saying, “Look at how their feet touch the ceiling; I thought we would die.”
Turbulence began while the plane crossed over Greenland. A specialist on board explained that Greenland is known for frequent turbulence caused by strong winds and temperature changes. Returning to Copenhagen allowed for a thorough assessment of the aircraft before future flights.
Tips for Handling Turbulence
Turbulence is caused by air currents due to various factors. The most common causes include mountains, jet streams, and storms.
To deal with turbulence effectively, follow the crew’s instructions, especially fastening your seatbelt when advised. If you are afraid of heights, avoid sitting in emergency exit rows.
Stay calm during turbulence. Anxiety can worsen the situation. Be aware of the oxygen masks in case they are needed.
When flying, do not sit in the last rows of the plane. Seats over the wings and close to the center of gravity experience less turbulence, while rear seats feel it more.
