Scheffler, McIlroy Headline PGA Tour Player of the Year Ballot
PGA Tour Announces 2025 Player of the year and Rookie of the Year Finalists
The PGA Tour has announced the finalists for its 2025 Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year awards. Voting is currently underway, with ballots closing on December 12th, and winners to be announced shortly thereafter.
Player of the Year Finalists
Scottie scheffler and Rory McIlroy are the finalists for the 2025 Player of the Year award. Scheffler secured victories at the Masters and the Open Championship, bringing his career major total to four. He is now one U.S. Open win away from achieving the career Grand Slam, joining an elite group of golfers.
McIlroy also had a successful 2025 season, winning The Players Championship and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He also claimed victory at the Irish open, though this win dose not count towards his official PGA Tour resume. Scheffler’s performance at the Open Championship was especially noteworthy.
Tiger Woods holds the record for the most Jack Nicklaus Awards (Player of the Year), with 11 wins. Scheffler and McIlroy are tied for third with three awards each.
Rookie of the Year Finalists
All five finalists for the 2025 Rookie of the Year award achieved at least one victory during the season. Potgieter was the only rookie to qualify for the FedEx Cup Playoffs, finishing 56th in the FedEx Cup fall standings.
The names of the other four Rookie of the Year finalists were not provided in the source material.
Additional 2025 Season Highlights
Griffin secured three victories in 2025. Tommy Fleetwood achieved his first PGA Tour win at the Tour Championship.
