School Scandal Unfolds: Academic Association Stands Firm on Late Applications as Teachers’ Union Demands Apology from Education Bureau
Dong Zhiying Academic Football: Academic Association Refuses to Accept Late Applications
The academic association has refused to accept late applications from Dong Zhiying Academic Football, citing that the school’s late registration was not a valid reason for acceptance.
Background
The school, known as the “Real Madrid of academics”, had its physical education director resign and was unable to access the online registration system, resulting in the late submission of the school football competition registration form.
The school recently apologized to the students and parents and sincerely applied for readmission to the China Hong Kong School Sports Federation (School Sports Association).
Academic Association’s Decision
The Student Sports Association issued a press release stating that the association’s middle school sports council held a special meeting to discuss the incident and unanimously concluded that Dong Zhiying’s late application could not be accepted.
The association emphasized that as an organizer, it must take into account all member schools and make comprehensive considerations, while maintaining the fairness of the competition system.
Teachers Union’s Response
The Hong Kong Education Workers’ Union also issued a statement denouncing the school’s accusations as unfounded and unreasonable.
The union said it had received the teacher’s request for help and handled the transfer work before and after he left his post.
The union also cited documents showing that the principal Huang Youjie had signed a form to request a password reset at the end of July, and the school had assisted the school in resetting the password in mid-August.
Education Bureau’s Response
The Education Office said it will investigate the incident and require the school to submit a report.
If the incident is deemed to involve improper management by the school or professional misconduct by teachers, it will be followed up and handled seriously.
