Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber made history today by hitting his 14th leadoff home run of the season, breaking a major league record.
Kyle Schwarber served as the designated hitter in the first inning and hit a 437-foot home run in center field off a 95.7 mile 4-seam fastball from Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Taj Bradley.
This home run marks Kyle Schwarber’s 35th of the season and his 45th career leadoff home run. Since joining the Phillies in 2022, he has hit 32 leadoff home runs.
After a slow start, Kyle Schwarber has been on a hot streak, hitting seven home runs in his last eight games, including three in his last game.
Kyle Schwarber leads the team with 35 home runs and 95 RBI this season, playing in 133 games as the Phillies’ starter. He is currently 31 years old.
Kyle Schwarber was taken out of the game in the 3rd inning with an undisclosed injury.
