Scotland Secures⁤ T20 Tri-Series Win against Netherlands

Updated June 15, 2025

Glasgow⁤ – Scotland avenged a recent defeat by defeating the Netherlands by 39 runs in their opening T20 tri-series match. The Scots’ strong bowling performance secured the victory at Clydesdale Cricket Club‍ after a delayed start.

The Scottish squad posted 160-8 before⁢ dominating with the ball, dismissing the ⁤Netherlands for 121 in 18.1 overs. This victory marks a important turnaround after Scotland’s high-scoring loss to the same opponent in a Cricket World Cup league 2 match in Dundee ‍just three days prior.

Despite the ultimate victory in this T20 tri-series, the Scots faced early challenges. Aryan Dutt of the Netherlands made an ‍impact early, taking two wickets in his second and ⁤third overs. He stumped opener Mark⁣ Watt and caught Brandon McMullen, leaving Scotland at 23-2.

George Munsey injected momentum with a rapid 30 off 17 balls, ⁢including ⁢three sixes and two fours. However, his dismissal, followed by those of ‍Liam Naylor and Michael Leask, put Scotland under renewed pressure. Finlay McCreath (40) and ⁤captain Matthew Cross (33) then combined for a crucial 57-run partnership for the sixth wicket, boosting Scotland’s ⁢total. Dutt finished⁢ with extraordinary figures of 3-17.

In response, ⁤the Dutch innings began positively as Michael ⁣Levitt took 15 runs off McMullen’s first over. However, the early wickets of Max O’Dowd and Zach Lion-Cachet, followed by the run-out of captain Scott Edwards, stunted their progress. Levitt’s dismissal for 36 in the ninth over further compounded the netherlands’ woes.

Jack ⁣Jarvis then struck a decisive blow, removing Teja Nidamanuru and roelof van der Merwe in fast succession. The netherlands ultimately fell short, mustering only 121 before being bowled out with 11 balls remaining. Safyaan Sharif and Mark Watt also contributed with two wickets each, supporting Jarvis’s efforts.

What’s next

Scotland will face Nepal on Tuesday in their second match of the T20 tri-series,looking to build on this winning start ‍and solidify their position in⁤ the tournament.
