Sean Lawson is ⁢the new ‍head coach for the Bears, stepping into the role after Dave Ward’s four-year‍ tenure concluded ‍in April. The team is looking to Lawson’s leadership to build upon their recent ‌successes.

Last⁢ season, the Bears reached their fourth ⁢consecutive PWR semi-final, finishing fourth overall. Though,​ thay were⁤ defeated⁢ by Gloucester-Hartpury in what became Ward’s final match. Ward also led ‌the team to their first final in​ 2024, where they again fell to Gloucester-Hartpury.

Lawson ‌expressed his commitment to hard work and a relentless pursuit of success for the club.​ He emphasized the aligned vision ​across the entire club as a key factor in his decision to join the ⁣Bears.

“From the ⁤moment I ⁣spoke wiht Daisie ⁢Mayes [general manager] and ⁣pat Lam [director of rugby] it was ​clear that‍ the vision ‍for the women’s program and the ⁤aligned approach across the whole club‍ was⁣ something I really⁢ wanted⁣ to be a part of,” Lawson said.

lawson also acknowledged his ⁢gratitude⁢ for his time‍ with Scottish Rugby. “I’ve loved my ​time ⁣with Scottish Rugby and ⁣will always be grateful for the experiences and relationships I’ve built⁤ there, ‌which I’ll continue to value moving forward,” he stated.”But this was an ⁢exciting⁤ chance⁢ I ​simply couldn’t resist.”
