Sea Power Unites: Japan and UK Join Forces in Thrilling English Channel Training Exercise

Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and Royal Navy Conduct Joint Exercise
The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and the Royal Navy conducted a joint Japan-UK exercise in the English Channel on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, with the aim of improving tactical skills and strengthening cooperation.
The training was part of the ”2024 Long-distance Training Voyage Unit” and included the training ships Kashima (TV-3508) and Shimakaze (TV-3521) from the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, and the patrol ship Tyne (P 281) from the Royal Navy.
The joint exercise featured a range of activities, including tactical exercises, communications training, and a PHOTOEX. These exercises aimed to enhance the interoperability and cooperation between the two navies.
Prior to the joint exercise, the training ship Kashima visited London, while the training ship Shimakaze visited Southampton, between Thursday, September 5th and Monday, September 9th.
