Ambassador Nyamitwe Willy formed diplomatic relations between Burundi and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Addis Ababa.

Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), 25/10/2024 – As part of Burundi’s foreign policy, Ambassador Nyamitwe Willy, Burundi’s extraordinary Permanent Representative to the African Unionsigned a protocol with Ambassador Michael P. Murphy, Permanent Representative of the Order of Malta [1] to the African Union. This agreement establishes diplomatic relations between the Republic of Burundi and the Order of the Sovereign Military Hostess of Saint John of Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta. The ceremony was held at the Hilton Hotel in Addis Ababa. This Order, which is an international Catholic organization dependent on the Holy See, participates in charitable activities and is the successor of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem.
