Sean Wilson Breaks Down Discussing Daughter’s Historic Sex Claim: ‘I’m Innocent’ – A Powerful Conversation
Sean Wilson, the actor famous for his role as Martin Platt in Coronation Street, recently discussed the challenges he faces regarding a past sex claim made against him. He expressed difficulty in explaining the situation to his children, Callum and Maisie, saying, "How do you tell your children that you’ve been wrongly accused?" He emphasized the need for them to understand that he is innocent.
Wilson was removed from the show in an abrupt eight-minute meeting with the producers after a historical allegation arose. The police investigated the claim but decided not to pursue the matter further. Sean described the experience as “hell,” noting how quickly his reputation became damaged.
Following the incident, Wilson reflected on the emotional toll it took on him, admitting the past months have been exhausting. He said, “When I got that call that was the first time I cried in four months.” He faced financial difficulties due to legal costs and the loss of his role, which he had been excited to revive.
Sean revealed his feelings of anger towards both the person who made the claim and the network. He stated, “ITV got their facts completely wrong.” However, he acknowledged their need to conduct a proper investigation.
Despite this setback in his career, he had hoped to return to the spotlight through various projects. Wilson recalled being excited for his comeback, but now feels his future in the industry is uncertain. He said, “My career is in tatters.”
Wilson has been active in other pursuits, including cheesemaking. Furthermore, he expressed the importance of being cautious, remarking that anyone could find themselves in a similar situation: “You are just one call away from ruin.”
