Second Torgranate Blood Donation Event in Edelzell Draws Over 150 Donors

Community Response and Participation

The event saw a continuous stream of donors over a five-hour period, resulting in a fully booked schedule. Participants included a large number of local athletes, coaches, and fans, with notable turnout from clubs such as TSV Pilgerzell, Eiterfeld/Leimbach, Hünfelder SV, and Lütter. This year’s event successfully mirrored the participation levels seen during the drive held last year.

Christoph Schwab, chairman of the board for DRK Fulda, noted the importance of the effort for the regional medical infrastructure. Schwab said.

Charitable Wager and Hospital Impact

Organizers had established a challenge prior to the event: if 150 donors arrived, both the Klinikum Fulda and DRK Fulda would commit a combined 5,000 euros to a local charitable cause. Although the goal was met, triggering the donation, officials framed the outcome as a success for the community.

Dr. Thomas Menzel, spokesman for the hospital board at Klinikum Fulda, emphasized the practical necessity of the donations. Menzel stated.

Regional Sports Integration

The event also featured a live talk hosted by torgranate.de, which included Hünfelder SV chairman Mario Rohde. The Hessenliga club attended the event with nearly its entire squad. Rohde highlighted the team’s involvement as a demonstration of collective spirit, noting that the players were present specifically to contribute to the medical cause.
