Seeds of Partnership: Gyeongnam Provincial Geochang University and Nonghyup Geochang Branch Unite to Boost Rice Consumption
NH Nonghyup Gyeongnam Geochang-gun Branch Promotes Rice Consumption at Geochang University
NH Nonghyup Gyeongnam Geochang-gun Branch and Gyeongnam Provincial Geochang University joined forces to promote rice consumption among faculty and students. Following a business agreement on August 21, the two organizations held a rice consumption promotion event at the Geochang University cafeteria on September 2.
The event aimed to encourage students to develop a habit of eating breakfast, thereby helping to increase rice consumption. Attendees distributed rice cakes made with locally sourced rice and promotional materials to approximately 400 college students. The event also launched an “Eat Breakfast” campaign, which seeks to address the decline in rice consumption due to population decline and changing eating habits.
Branch Manager Lee Tae-yong emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “Although this is a small rice sharing event, if everyone who uses the Geochang University cafeteria develops a habit of eating breakfast, it will greatly benefit struggling rice farmers.” He encouraged participants to join the breakfast-eating movement and promote it to others.
President Kim Jae-gyu expressed his hope that the breakfast-eating campaign would inspire all faculty and students at Geochang University to make breakfast a priority, thereby contributing to increased rice consumption. He encouraged participants to become messengers of the breakfast-eating movement.
By promoting rice consumption and encouraging students to develop healthy eating habits, NH Nonghyup Gyeongnam Geochang-gun Branch and Gyeongnam Provincial Geochang University aim to support local rice farmers and contribute to the well-being of the community.
